Dear Madam,
I acknowledge receipt of your mail from 12/20/2010 and I thank you for sending it.
I have the pleasure to give you information that can explain the situation.
SHALIMAR, a perfume symbolic of Guerlain, was created in 1925 by Jacques Guerlain.
For a number of years now, perfume and cosmetics companies have pledged to comply strictly with European regulations, which limit or prohibit the use of certain ingredients.
To meet these new criteria, our perfumer has worked relentlessly to rework SHALIMAR without losing sight of the Guerlain ethos: never compromise on quality. Perfumery makes great strides every day with the discovery of new molecules and new techniques for extracting natural raw materials. Some ingredients thus can be replaced by others spawned by technological progress.
SHALIMAR is taking advantage of the latest olfactory innovations to ensure strict compliance with all applicable European regulations, while remaining faithful to the spirit of this emblematic perfume and its assertive personality.
I precise you that this compliance was made step by step since 20087 and that it is not possible to find the original formula.
I hope to keep your trust in Guerlain.
Yours faithfully,
Isabelle ROUSSEAU
